We made it back from our Pacific Northwest trip last weekend–what a beautiful area! We visited Vancouver, BC, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR. The weather was phenomenal (for my standards, I love chilly weather), people were incredibly friendly and we ate the tastiest food! Some of our favorite, albeit touristy, places we checked out include Granville Island, Pike Place Market (peony heaven & Beecher’s Cheese Shop was so amazing we went twice!), Nordstrom (we have Nordy’s where we live but when in Seattle…), the International Rose Test Garden & probably a dozen coffee shops in Portland, haha. There were many attributes I liked in each city, but I’d have to say Seattle was my favorite overall; I can’t wait to go back for a longer period of time to do some more exploring.
I had no idea Portland was known as the “City of Roses” (due to perfect year-round climate for growing roses) until we arrived. I noticed there were roses growing everywhere–next to highways, on random sidewalks, various spots downtown, etc. Roses are my favorite flower, especially white roses; they are so feminine and pure. On Thursday morning, after devouring Blue Star donuts (our fave donut place we first experienced in LA last summer) and Dutch Bros coffee (hello keto cold-brew), we walked to the International Rose Test Garden which is situated within Washington Park in downtown Portland. The garden is filled with thousands of roses of many varieties, and was absolutely breathtaking. We stayed for about an hour, leisurely strolling and taking in the beauty. John Paul snapped a few pics of me right before we left, and I used “Marina’s Dream Preset” (find her @marinamcavoy on insta) to quickly edit them.
I’ll be posting photos & more about our trip under the “travel” tab within the coming weeks. Heading to DC this weekend and Iceland on Tuesday, feeling excited and grateful!
