How I’m Going to Rock 2018

January 3, 2018 Uncategorized

Hope everyone enjoyed the New Year’s celebrations over the past few days. I wanted to do a quick post regarding “resolutions” and how I plan to have a happy, fabulous 2018!

There are two general opinions on New Year’s revolutions: pointless & cheesy, and refreshing & encouraging. I definitely lean toward the latter of the two. I feel that many people, like myself, make small resolutions/goals throughout the year but tend to openly discuss their goals around New Year’s because that’s what’s buzzing. I think NY is a great time to reflect on life and decide on measures you can implement to make yourself the best you can be in the upcoming year. 🙂

That being said, here are some of my goals for 2018…

More Blogging:

I’ve been blogging since the end of 2011, but have been all over the place with it. In September of 2017, I switched from Blogger to WordPress/Genesis Framework in order to maintain full ownership of my blog. New look, new site address, a fresh start and a bit of uncertainty as to what I should do next. Four months later and here we are, ready to put energy into this site and fill it with things I love. To be clear, I blog because I truly enjoy having a platform to share my thoughts, photos, etc. I’m all about blog/brand growth, as well as promoting yourself and your work, but at the end of the day I want this site to be 100% genuine. Everything I write about will be true to who I am as an individual. No posting for the sake of posting; this space/content is authentic.

Take My Plant Based Eating to the Next Level:

I’ve always been a lover of plant-based foods (avocados, anyone?!), but this year I want to become more creative with recipes & work on consuming fewer animal products. I’m working on a post about my background with nutrition & health, and will share it soon!

Spend More Time with my Husband:

John Paul & I have opposite work schedules. I work twelve-hour day shifts as a nurse, and he works in the evenings. He’s sleeping while I’m awake, and vice versa. Sometimes we go 3-4 days without actually seeing eachother. We try to make up for it on our off days but I want to put more energy into spending quality time together, doing things we love.

Be Nicer to Myself:

I am notorious for putting myself down, especially when it comes to my appearance. I don’t know if it’s age, but I’m kind of over it. This lifetime is short, why spend it being negative? I am who I am, and I’m learning to accept it & focus on things that make me happy.

Work on Friendships/Relationships:

As I mentioned in the last post, we’re moving back to Tulsa this summer. I’m excited to be closer to my family and friends, many of whom I haven’t seen in quite a while. I’m really looking forward to reigniting relationships with older friends.

Save Money/Purchase Investment Pieces:

With moving, kids in a couple years, etc. I’m going to focus on saving money & purchasing items with true value and logevity. (see my last post for thoughts on investment purchases & living more simple-minded)

Help Others:

Not sure if it’s because I’m getting older and have better perspective, but I’ve really felt the desire to help others, lately. I really want to get involved and show love to others, like God shows love to us.

Regardless of the time of year, there’s always room for self-evaluation and enrichment. What will make you happy? How can you help others? What are your goals? Let’s rock it!

Love,

Kat
