Well, almost. I said “bye” to summer faster than you can say, “Pumpkin Spice Latte.” I’ve already pulled out the black nail polish, spiked pumpkins and my embarrassingly large collection of cardigans. September-December is my favorite chunk of the year, hand down. Between my husband & I’s birthdays, cooler weather (except in Florida, grrr), Halloween/Thanksgiving/Christmas, and excessive sweets and goodies, this time of year is THE BEST!
With that being said, my 27th birthday is on 9/27; I seriously can’t believe I’m entering my late 20’s! It’s truly amazing how quickly time passes. As hard as it is growing older, it’s a gift denied to many, so I try to keep that in mind as I creep closer to my (gulp) 30’s. I’ll be heading home to Tulsa on the 29th and can’t wait to celebrate my birthday, partake in Tulsa State Fair shenanigans, shop, and enjoy some family time.
I started decorating for fall & Halloween (AKA Alexander McQueen season) this week. I personally don’t care for kitschy decor or orange/red color schemes (to each their own, however!), and think it’s important to find items that blend seamlessly with your existing decor. For my home, I prefer black, white, gray and metallics, with small pops of color; I lean towards contemporary pieces, and love a good skull figurine. Home Goods/Marshall’s & Target are hands down the best, budget-friendly places to find seasonal decor. All of the decorative pieces in the photos below are from either of those stores, and were less than $15/each. The jewel-tone velvet pumpkins were only $1 at Target!
